Mother Blessing Ceremony

"Through ceremony, we acknowledge the sacredness of life's passages." - Joseph Campbell

A Mother Blessing ceremony offers a beautiful and unique way to honour this rite of passage into motherhood.

Unlike a traditional baby shower, the focus here isn't on material gifts for your little one, but on celebrating you, with a circle of women surrounding you.

An intimate space filled with the warmth of close friends and family, a Mother Blessing Ceremony welcomes everyone, regardless of their motherhood journey, it's those who stand ready to offer their support.

Some suggestions of how we could spend our time together:

  • Gathering in circle to introduce ourselves and to share readings, poems, or simple well wishes.

  • Building an altar; your guests are invited to bring an offering to bless the space and honour you and your baby.

  • With my art supplies we can invite the circle to contribute to a piece of art that reflects their hopes and dreams for you and baby - perhaps some birth affirmation cards, or even some bump art, the possibilities are endless.

  • Guest's are invited to bring a dish, sweet or savoury, that you, the mama-to-be, especially enjoys. This not only provides a delicious spread for the ceremony but also establishes a "feeding the new mother" tradition. It's a gentle reminder that support can come in many forms, including meals!

  • Red Thread Ritual; a ball of red thread unites the circle. Each person wraps it around their wrist and passes it on to the next person. The cord transforms into bracelets, worn by each guest until baby is born.

  • Your guests are invited to bring a special bead. We'll then weave these beads together, creating a bracelet for you to treasure.

  • Some pampering for you; a hand and foot massage after a foot soak and/or back and shoulder massage. It gives you the opportunity to surrender to accepting love and support whilst enjoying some love, laughs and tears with your nearest and dearest.

The gathering will last approximately 3 hours, with 1 hour on either side dedicated to setting up and packing away, and can be held from the comfort of your home or outside, weather permitting.

This ceremony isn't about following a script but creating a meaningful experience that celebrates you. It's a reminder that you're not alone. You're surrounded by a loving circle, a strong community to hold you every step of the way.
